National Association of Conservation Districts

NACD's mission is to serve conservation districts by providing national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation.

Committees

During recent revisions to the bylaws to address NACD’s region structure, the implementation task force was also charged with strengthening the association’s committee structure. Beginning February 2008, the five Foundation Committees, chairs and staff advisors are as follows:

Membership of each committee will consist of approximately ten NACD board members, with each state and territory serving on one committee. States were asked to indicate their top three preferences and members were appointed based largely on those preferences. Committee chairs and members will serve two-year terms in conjunction with the NACD President.

Each committee may establish subcommittees and task forces to assist with special projects or issues. The Natural Resources Policy Committee may also set up Resource Policy Groups (RPGs) to tackle special interest issues. RPGs have already been established to address forestry and urban issues. Membership of subcommittees, task forces and RPGs will be at the discretion and appointment of each committee chair.
