NACD SUPPORTIVE OF HOUSE FARM BILL

WASHINGTON, D.C.—July 24, 2007—The National Association of Conservation Districts today joined other conservation and agriculture groups at a House Agriculture Committee press conference in support of the House’s Farm Bill legislation. “We appreciate the House Agriculture Committee’s efforts to craft a Conservation Title in the Farm Bill that works for America’s farmers, ranchers and forest landowners,” said NACD President Olin Sims. NACD leaders attend House Farm Bill press conference.

Sims, a rancher from McFadden, Wyo., attended today’s conference with other producers from across the nation. “We have conservation district leaders from 42 states and the Pacific Basin in town for NACD’s Legislative Conference,” Sims said. “Chairman Peterson addressed our Conference yesterday to discuss the Farm Bill and we are glad to be able to support the Committee’s efforts here today.”

“The draft bill passed by the Committee this week demonstrates a strong commitment to conservation and preserves the locally-led conservation delivery system,” Sims said. “NACD remains committed to locally-led conservation and will work for passage of the bill on the House floor.”
