July 23, 2007 – Support for House Farm Bill

TO:

Chairman Collin Peterson
Agriculture Committee
U.S. House of Representatives

Dear Chairman Peterson,

The National Association of Conservation Districts and our 3,000 member conservation districts would like to thank you and the Committee for your efforts to write a farm bill that works for landowners.

The draft bill passed by the committee demonstrates a strong commitment to conservation and preserves the locally-led conservation delivery system. We support continued efforts to find additional funding for key conservation programs, including the Conservation Security Program. Working-lands conservation programs are critical to helping farmers, ranchers and forest landowners address natural resource concerns on their operation.

NACD remains committed to ensuring that conservation programs in the 2007 Farm Bill work for farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners, we remain committed to locally-led conservation, and we will work for passage of the bill on the House floor.

Sincerely,

Olin Sims
President
