National Association of Conservation Districts
NACD's mission is to serve conservation districts by providing national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation.
Memorandums of Understanding
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is often used as a tool to formalize a partnership between two or more organizations. While MOUs have varying levels of commitment, most outline matters of general agreement between participating parties for a set period of time or a given subject matter. Most MOUs are reviewed on an annual or periodic basis.
A typical MOU includes the following components:
- Title or Heading (including names of parties)
- Statement of Purpose
- List of commitments by party
- Other items as agreed to by parties
- Duration and Limitations of Memorandum
- Title and Signatures of appropriate parties from each organization
NACD has used Memorandums of Understanding with a variety of organizations throughout its history to accomplish its mission through partnerships. Several of these MOUs are currently active agreements.
Sample MOUs
Below are sample Memorandums of Understanding that can be adapted by individual conservation districts or state associations to establish or strengthen partnerships at the local or state level.
Bureau of Land Management
The national MOU between NACD and the Bureau of Land Management was extended on December 1, 2008.
