Hello all -
Recognizing that Massachusetts ACD has a weak and scattered recordkeeping system, my goal is to hire a grants/contracts manager to develop an extremely robust and simple system for tracking all details, such as grant/contract amounts (invoiced, received, remaining), status of reporting and other deliverables, match tracking, disadvantaged business owner goals, etc. I expect this will require an initial “heavy lift,” but then less time and effort once it’s up and running. At that point, our dual goal is to then make that person and their expertise available to all the individual Conservation Districts in Massachusetts, most of whom could use similar assistance.
I’d appreciate any feedback from other state associations concerning your experience with a grants/contracts manager, either on staff or outside consultant. I welcome your suggestions on recruiting such a professional, as well as your thoughts on this grants/contracts tracking concept overall. And if you have a tracking system that works well for you, I'd love to see it!
