Mr. Lomax has been an ecologist and business adviser with The Lomax Consulting Group, agencies, and organizations for more than 50 years. His experience is in project management, inter-disciplinary team development and management, performing environmental assessments and site feasibility studies, ecological studies, assessment of issues and development of strategic plans for solving environmental/land use regulatory problems, photographic documentation and interpretation, development and presentation of training/educational programs. He has prepared documents for the permitting at all levels of government for more than 3,500 projects.
Mr. Lomax has provided expert testimony to agencies at all levels of government and to state and federal courts on environmental issues and regulatory programs. He has conducted studies in Costa Rica, Panama, and Jamaica and has consulted with governments and investors/business organizations on projects in Italy, Honduras, Somalia, Iceland, Antigua, and Vietnam.
He taught ecology, natural resource and entomology courses at Rutgers University and Stockton State College, owned/operated a campground and managed lands, including a farm, producing commodity crops.
Currently, Joseph serves as the Executive Vice President of The Lomax Consulting Group and provides administrative support to conservation agencies and organizations. He has authored publications on diverse environmental topics and made more than 50 public presentations.
Mr. Lomax has served on the NACD Executive Board, the Board of Directors, and on many operations and resource policy committees, i.e. Coastal, Urban, Natural Resource, Human Resources, Cause Team, Farm Bill, NE Regional Chair and Appreciative Inquiry Representative, Liaison to Employees Associate and the NRCS Employee Development Board. Finally, Mr. Lomax has been honored with the President’s Award from both President Wilson and President McDaniels.
Mr. Lomax lives with his wife, Ellen, and pets in their “hideaway” on the Delaware Bay surrounded by the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge. His recreational activities include nature adventures and photography, sailing, biking, and kayaking/canoeing often with his son, Peter, and grandchildren Sofia and Sawyer.
