POSTER, PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2016

DENVER, Jan. 31, 2017 – The 2016 winners of the National Association of Conservation District’s poster and photo contests were announced Sunday at the organization’s 71st Annual Meeting. Each year, the NACD photo and poster contests give students and adults alike the opportunity to display their artistic talents on a national stage.

NACD and the NACD Auxiliary would like to once again congratulate the winners of NACD’s 2016 national photo contest. The top honors for photos in the Agriculture and Conservation Across America category went to:

Troy Bishopp of Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District in New York (1st place, adult division)

Sid Osofsky of Laurens County Soil and Water Conservation District in South Carolina (2nd place, adult division)

Riley Shaw of Niobrara Conservation District in Wyoming (1st place, youth division)

Anna Jorgenson of Fillmore County Soil and Water Conservation District of Minnesota (2nd place, youth division)

In the Close-Up Conservation category, the winners are:

Dawn Martin of Mercer County Soil Conservation District in North Dakota (1st place, adult division)

Anna MacDonald of Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District in Iowa (2nd place, adult division)

Emma Lee of Vernon County Land and Water Conservation District in Wisconsin (1st place, youth division)

Rianna Ryan of Fillmore County Soil and Water Conservation District in Minnesota (2nd place, youth division)

The winners of the Conservation in Action category are:

Kristi Hill of Deer Creek Conservation District in Oklahoma (1st place, adult division)

Marjorie Phillips of Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District in Indiana (2nd place, adult division)

Jason Walker of Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District in Indiana (1st place, youth division)

Grace Nordmeyer of New Castle Conservation District in Delaware (2nd place, youth division)

In the Conservation Practices category, the winners are:

Troy Bishopp of Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District in New York (1st place, adult division)

Richard Mickowski of New Castle Conservation District in Delaware (2nd place, adult division)

Adeline Peters of Fillmore County Soil and Water Conservation District in Minnesota (1st place, youth division)

Anna Jorgenson of Fillmore County Soil and Water Conservation District in Minnesota (2nd place, youth division)

Over 250 kindergarten through 12th grade students from more than 30 states submitted “We All Need Trees”-themed posters for the 2016 NACD poster contest. The first, second, and third place posters for the kindergarten through first grade division were created by:

Ciara Waltenberg of Portage County Land and Water Conservation District in Wisconsin (1st place)

Allison Eden of Jones County Soil and Water Conservation District in Mississippi (2nd place)

Caroline Robinson of Rutherford County Soil Conservation District in Tennessee (3rd place)

In the second grade through third grade division:

Tanvi Reddy of Freehold Soil Conservation District in New Jersey (1st place)

Ashton Truenow of Lake Soil and Water Conservation District in Florida (2nd place)

Emma Wosmek of Noble County Conservation District in Oklahoma (3rd place)

In the fourth grade through sixth grade division:

Eason Li of New Castle Conservation District in Delaware (1st place)

Katie McDonnell of Marion Soil and Water Conservation District in Florida (2nd place)

Andrew Kim of Freehold Soil Conservation District in New Jersey (3rd place)

In the seventh grade through ninth grade division:

Kaitlyn Couchman of Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District in Iowa (1st place)

Brooklyn Hanson of Ashland County Land and Water Conservation District in Wisconsin (2nd place)

Chia-Hsuan Lin of Freehold Soil Conservation District in New Jersey (3rd place)

In the tenth grade through twelfth grade division:

Alice Fang of Freehold Soil Conservation District in New Jersey (1st place)

Cody Hodge of Bedford County Soil Conservation District in Tennessee (2nd place)

Jessica Venvertloh of Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District in Missouri (3rd place)
