Gabriel Lee is founder of The Benefactory, a New Mexico non-profit organization with a charitable purpose of providing food and sustainability education for impoverished families and communities. Lee and his wife KaLee are relatively new to New Mexico and are based in the beautiful East Mountains of Edgewood.

The Lees are new to the agriculture scene, so they have not yet had the opportunity to implement any practices outside of the workshops they conduct. Their mission is to create food forests in impoverished communities which will incorporate soil inoculation, no-till practices, and many permaculture techniques. A driving factor for this is to educate people on food security, healthy diet habits, generational thinking of food sources, and ecological awareness.

A real eye-opener for the Lees has been soil inoculation. While doing business, they’ve found many abandoned lots that they hope to acquire where food can be grown for the people around them. Soil condition is often poor and must be revived to be productive.
