In Ohio, the Fayette County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) in Ohio held several events in honor of Stewardship Week.

  • The Fayette County SWCD teamed up with a local grocery store to provide paper grocery bags for middle school students to design pollinator posters.  The Board of Supervisors judged the posters and the bags were eventually sent back to the grocery store for customers to use and enjoy.
  • The district also partnered with the local Master Gardeners group to have pollinator plants and seeds available at the local farmers market.
  • The district partnered with the Fayette County Farm to plant a pollinator strip of plants for the community to watch this spring, summer and fall.

In Delaware, Stewardship Week was marked by a ceremonial signing of the 60th Soil and Water Stewardship Week proclamation with Governor Jack Markell, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary David Small, and the President of the Delaware Association of Conservation Districts, Robert Emerson.  The 2015 Governor’s Agricultural and Urban Conservation Awards ceremony followed.
